BCDCares: Donating Happy Food to Families in Need
The Gift of Caring is an initiative started by the Girl Scouts to give back to military personnel, essential workers, and many others. Their goal is to provide support and share the joy of Girl Scout cookies to members of the community. For instance, in the past year, the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northern Indiana collected more than 230,000 boxes of cookies for the Gift of Caring! Even during these unprecedented times, the Gift of Caring continues to spread joy through the help of their community.
This year, BCD is proud to be a platinum sponsor for the Gift of Caring. BCD’s donation of 1,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies will be shared with the Northern Illinois Food Depository. In times where everyone could use the joy of Girl Scout cookies, BCD is honored to participate.
“My wife, Joanne, and I donate to the local food pantry in our community,” says Jeff Burgess, CEO of BCD International. “Joanne also donates her time. Recently, a company team member’s daughter sold Girl Scout cookies for her troop. We ordered 20 boxes and Joanne brought them to the food pantry. Their feedback was, ‘It’s so nice to get happy food to give to families with children!’ That message has resonated with me ever since.”
“So, on a broader level, we are thrilled to give ‘happy food’ to food pantries across Northern Illinois,” Burgess added.
At BCD, community is one of our core values. Giving back and spreading joy by providing “happy food” for families all over is a valued opportunity to our team. If your company would also like to participate in the Gift of Caring, donations are open until October 20th. For more information on how to get involved, reach out to your local troop leader. You can also head over to the Gift of Caring page on the Girl Scouts’ website and fill out the form to get in contact with a troop near you.
